Our Story of Buying a Bedside Table

As we have decided to decorate The House at Le Gros Chigy in simple traditional style we are looking at second hand furniture for many of the things we need. One of the best places for this seems to be Leboncoin an open INTERNET site where people seem to advertise furniture they no longer need at reasonable prices.

This is an active site with lots being added, this morning some 1500 new items are online!

Our first experience was a little bedside table or "night stand" for 15€ which we needed for the main bedroom. We phoned and despite trying to get a road address for the GPS, got directions that the seller was in the house with blue shutters next to the church, that they would be at a village faire but would be home at 18:00.

Not knowing the way we left early and arrived with time to spare and immediately saw a house with blue shutters on the main road, driving past and doing a U turn we headed back only to see that there was no church! A bit of peering around made us think it was a few streets off the main road, although the directions hadn't said that. So after another U turn we drove up a side street to the church and came across another house with blue shutters but this was obviously closed up. Seeing a lady coming out of her house with a baking tray and headed for the cellar, we asked for help and where directed to the "beige house" across the street. Close examination showed that the shutters were blue but they were practically invisible because they were open! It reminded me of some of the less informative directions I have been given in Africa.

Anyway after a few minutes wait the seller and family arrived from the faire and showed us the table

which was just what we wanted, although a pair would have been better than a single piece of furniture. But anyway it has with the wardrobe given to the house and a really comfortable new bed given us a great main bedroom with just the wallpaper and floor needing further improvement when the time is right!
