What Does This Flyswatter Say About The French and What Would it say About Other Countries?

This flyswatter was here in The House at Le Gros Chigy when we got here!

You can see it in the Le Gros Chigy setting at the end of the post. When I saw this my first thought was - that's really nice an attempt to give the victim a chance to escape a squashing - something like the hunters who hunt lines on foot with crossbows rather than from Land Rovers with high powered rifles.

But then I got to wondering whether this was very French and concluded that it was more likely to be an aesthetic thing and ended with this list of countries and why they might use such a flyswatter.

  • France - for the good looks
  • England - fairplay for animals
  • Australia - as a backup to the corks on their bushhat brims
  • South Africa - stolen to sell as scrap plastic
  • America - our swatter has the biggest holes
  • Irish - why the small holes?

  • What would your suggestion be? why not email me I promise to take things a bit more serious in upcoming posts. Here is the promised rural view!
