Three Interesting Graves at St Denis Church in Massy

I know some seem to feel this blogging on graves is a bit "different" but I always seem to find it very interesting. These three graves at Saint Denis church at Massy, which I visited a few weeks before leaving Bourgogne, interested me. Keep an eye on the blog as there will be a bit more about the church in a future blog.

The most mysterious of the three is this large and quite new grave with no markings whatsoever and no flowers or other decorations which were quite prominent because this was around "All Saints Day" when graves are decorated for the occasion.

Just the opposite, was this really poignant grave of a child where the small grave holds 9 ornaments and plaques remembering a son and a brother.

The third attracted me by its formality, recording the death of Madam Henriette Gueritte the spouse of Colonel Henri Gueritte.

It also contained two names (possibly surnames) and coats of arms. The grave itself is clearly much older than the head stone which was erected after 1995, after the death of Madam Guereitte. I guess this would be another of those things that probably have an interesting story - maybe I'll look further one day - or someone reading this can give us more information.

By the way - I'm hoping there will be some interesting posts every week or so until we are in Le Gros Chigy again!
